How can partners work together when they have different perspectives or interests, even if they share a common goal? This is a question I have come across many times over the years in every business sector.

Two partners desire a specific outcome but they have different ideas about how to achieve that outcome. Things get fuzzy.... Unless the partners find a way to understand one another’s perspectives and work together to achieve their shared goal.
This is a frequent topic of conversation when I get together with Helen MacMillan and Robyn McIsaac. We discuss this issue in the context of the Canadian gaming sector, specifically the importance of responsible gambling programs to both operators and governments. We put our thoughts together on this topic to produce the first All-In publication:
Abstract
Responsible gambling programs are the standard for government agencies, regulators and casino operators. They provide social license to operate and help to ensure an economically sustainable industry. Each of the parties has different reasons for embracing responsible gambling, which sometimes can create conflict. Alignment between the partners is necessary to ensure programs are effective and factor in both the business and social realities that drive them. At the core, responsible gambling programming is about educating and informing the players. Through consideration of all sides of this complex business issue, based on personal experience, the authors make recommendations about the most effective means of creating and implementing responsible gambling programs.
